HaKadosh Baruch Hu asks, “What has happened to So-and-so, that he did not come?”
“Asks about him”: “What has happened to So-and-so? Why did he not come?”
“Fears Hashem”: who was used to coming to Him.
“Who walks in darkness with no light”: who has now gone to a place of darkness, in that he holds himself back from coming early to My doors.
