Hillel heard a cry in the city and said, “It is not in my house”

Berachos, 60a

Talmud Bavli

The Rabbis taught [in a Baraisa]: It happened that Hillel HaZakein was coming home along the road, and he heard a sound of screaming in the city. He said, “I am sure that this is not in my house.” And of him the pasuk says, “He will not fear evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in Hashem” (Tehillim 112:7).

Rava said: However you expound this pasuk, from its beginning to its end or from its end to its beginning, it can be expounded. From its beginning to its end: “He will not fear evil tidings.” Why? Because “his heart is firm, trusting in Hashem.” From its end to its beginning: “His heart is firm, trusting in Hashem”; [therefore] “he will not fear evil tidings.”
