6:9

A convert who had been an astrologer came into danger because he hesitated, and was saved because he trusted in his Creator

Rabbi Chuna told this story. A certain convert was an astrologer. Once he was about to set out [on the road]. He said, “Is this a time to set out?” [for by his stars it was a time of danger]. Then he said again, “Did I not join this holy nation in order to separate myself from these things? Let us set out in the name of our Creator.” He came near to being torn apart [by a wild beast]; he gave it his donkey, and it ate it. What brought it about that he fell [into danger]? Because he had [those] thoughts. What brought it about that he was saved? Because he trusted in his Creator.
