Yerushalmi Sotah

9:13

“Men of faith” in Torah: one who would not give up his set time for merchandise, and said, “If it is fit to come, it will come”

From when the Beis HaMikdash was destroyed, the shamir and the honey of the combs ceased, and men of faith ceased, as it says, “Save, Hashem, for the devout are no more; for the faithful have vanished from among men” (Tehillim 12:2).

“And men of faith ceased”: Rabbi Ze’ira said: [This means] men of faith in Torah [who trust in Hashem that their business will succeed while they occupy themselves with Torah and do not leave it (Pnei Moshe)]. As in this [story]: a certain rabbi was reading Scripture with his brother in Tzur, and they were calling out [to him] about merchandise. And he said, “I will not give up my set time [for Torah]. If [a profit] is fit to come, it will come.”
