Yalkut Shimoni, Tehillim, remez 719
“Many are the pains of the wicked” (Tehillim 32:10). Rebbi and Rabbi Yishmael the son of Rabbi Yose were sitting and studying Megillas Kinos on Erev Shabbos as darkness fell. They left one alphabet of it over, and said, “Tomorrow we will finish it.” As Rebbi went up, he stumbled and hurt his toe, and he applied to himself, “Many are the pains of the wicked.” Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Tanchum said in the name of Rabbi Yirmiyah: Even a wicked man who trusts in Hashem, kindness will surround him.
