“When you go out to war, etc., and see horse and chariot, a people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them” (Devarim 20:1). We were warned by this that if a person sees that trouble is near, the salvation of Hashem should be in his heart, and he should trust in it; as it says, “Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him” (Tehillim 85:10); and so it is written, “Who are you, that you are afraid of a man who will die?” (Yeshayahu 51:12).
