Everything is through hope: that is, even if a person is not worthy, he merits all the gifts in the merit of hope, as [the Midrash] goes on to explain; that is, in the merit of emunah and bitachon. And about this [Yaakov] said, “I hope for Your salvation, Hashem” (Bereishis 49:18): that even if they will not be so worthy of redemption and salvation, even so the salvation will come in the merit of hope and bitachon (Nezer HaKodesh).
